What Should I Pack For Giving Birth

What shall I pack?

Knowing what to take with you when you go into labour is not easy but our top tip would be that less is more as your partner or family can always bring you things as you need them.

Use a bag that opens at the top rather than a suitcase that needs space to open out.

Keep your things and baby’s things separate where possible.

Put piles of the same item e.g. baby vests or your underwear, in a separate see through bag so they are easy to find and accessible.

Things for you…….

Comfortable, old t shirt/nightshirt to labour and deliver in. Bikini/sports top to wear in the pool (better not to wear anything though)

Fan/facecloth

Snacks and water bottle with straw

Hair bobbles/clips

Phone and charger

Old or disposable pants x 6

Maternity pads (not pantyliners) 1x pack

Maternity bras x 2 plus breastpads

Comfortable nightdress or PJ’s – opening at the front if you intend to breastfeed

Slippers

Toiletries – toothbrush and paste, hairbrush, face cloth or wipes and moisturiser, deodorant. Make up is not really required but if it makes you nervous to go without, then minimum you can bare!

Any regular medication you take
